Tarboy, new work and thanks

Posted by JamesLee - August 25th, 2009

I just realized I never made a news post about Tarboy coming out, so I'll use this post to give a huge THANKS to everyone for your support with the film! It was a nerve-wracking few days before putting it out, wondering how it would be accepted, but the response completely blew away our expectations :O

We've actually got 2 more films we'll be putting out over the next few months. I'm just waiting for one of them to complete it's festival circuit. The sucky thing is that more often than not, the bigger festivals don't accept films that have been already shown to the public, so I hope you guys don't mind waiting a while :P

Tarboy's begining to make it's way around the net. In case anyone's interested

It's up on Deviantart here: http://jameslee.deviantart.com/art/TAR BOY-134560109
and youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACHVwA1 D8fE

Here's some random Tarboy II concept art...

But Tarboy II was already made XD

Well until it got blammed, but Tarboy 2 is still up XD

thats a pretty cool concept. Lookin forward to the followup.

cool .....and ....cool ... :<>

Loved it dude! Can't wait to see what you come up with next :)

Seriously, you ARE a masterpiece.

I wish that you would make full-length films in the future.

dude this was fuckin brilliant

its got a dark Xen Factory Apocalyptic feeling and i love it completely...

i just...it was just Cinema worthy!!!

Amazing equilibrium of art and animation styles and perfectly developed and narrated storyline. In short, I love you

This was amazing! Really, like something of a marvel. I never thought anything could top my number one favorite the "There She Is!" series, but i think this is definitely a contender. Reminds me of some adult version (not the sexual kind, but gritty real world themed nihilism something something kind) pixar disney movie. The voice acting , music, and animation was superb, I really enjoyed it.

Did you use any 3-d vector programs? Either way it was all brilliant.

Yep, I used Maya, but only for some subtle bits (Tarboy's rotating head in the intro sequence, the insect's lazer beam eyes etc)

I can't wait for Tarboy II.
Or, I guess I could say I can't wait for
the day that TARBOY is COMPLETE once more!

Hahaha, :D

jesus man. your work is unbelievable. congratulations on your work for tarboy. and btw i hadnt realized but Purged has been one of my favorite animated pieces i've seen online. so congrats on that too. keep up the creativity man!

Oh wow, sweet, you've seen Purged! I'll be putting it up on here in a couple of months :)

I love this animation. It's so well done, so professional looking, I'm surprised it's on sites like New Grounds, you know, for free. Anyway, I'm really impressed with this animation and am looking forward to the second installment.

Hey dude, nice animation skills. I just randomly clicked on Tarboy and then as i was watching it i recogised one of the robots in it (the one with the sunnies). I remember seeing that exact same robot and yourself in a Griffith Uni Book saying that u got a filmmakers award. (I'm taking that same uni course next year).

Anyway, nice job. i can see u put a lot of effort into it. Can't wait for Tarboy 2.

Awesome! You'll like it at Griffith, you'll meet some great people there :D

ur flash rules.'nuff said

are you married to hania? cuz if you are then... damn you both can create some serious shit (and ur lucky too!) ;D

Yep, we're married, and I'm damn lucky!

hey you kn ow what would be realy cool as something tarboy would encounter...
a robitic cloak that can turn invisible and it has arms that are as this as it. and it gets around by clrawling around...

Yay Tarboy 2!!

I didnt think youd make one!!!

I CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!

Man how did you manage to make it in Flash, and still end up with such a high quality video on Youtube? Is there some trick that I'm missed when it comes to converting Flash to Video?

Output your Flash as an uncompressed Avi file (the file size will be huge!) and then compress it down using 'Animation' compression using editing software, with all the dials turned up to maximum quality.

Your last movie was amazing, thumbsup!
