New video! (Freelance gig)

Posted by JamesLee - April 24th, 2013

About a month ago I had the pleasure of working with one of my favourite bands, 'Johnny Hollow'. They needed some Flash animation for their IndieGoGo crowd sourcing campaign.

It was a huge buzz working with them and one of the most fun projects I've worked on. The video is up online now. My work starts about 30 seconds in, and is spread out through the video.

If you dig their music and want to support their new album, you can help them out on their IndieGoGo campaign http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/johnny-hollow

Really flowed well, and sold the concept with a velvet glove. The narrators voice seems familiar... another animator here, who may have won a Tank Award not long ago.... hm?

The narrator does sound a bit like Felix! They got their own guy to do the narration though :) Thanks for the kind words!

Well done, sir. Also very humble of them to only ask for $12500. It shouldn't be a problem to be reached.

Yeah, I think they'll be fine getting to their target.

Awesome animation, complete with that signature style of yours that defines you as an artist.

Referencing the video, I too feel that all of the "middle management" really gets in the way of the whole point of creative productions of all types; to create something awesome and entertaining. Unfortunately, many people still do believe that large companies and top-down management is required.

In my opinion, the biggest challenge is just figuring out a good method of self management... not in reference to the art itself (that's the EASY part because it is familiar territory), but rather the things that many artists usually don't have as much experience in such as building an audience, analyzing statistics, using social media, financial management, investing, advertising, presentation, etc. etc. etc... the demands of the independent artist can be far greater with this route, but also far more efficient and more rewarding as well.

Either way, I wish them the best for their campaign!

Very well made.
I like dark themes and this one one was great.
Good job.
