If it were up to me i'd go all out and then render it into a video format. Else if you go with just the swf way there are people here whose machines might not be up to par, thus giving them a poor experience.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Though I'm not certain yet. Full vector animation seems to have more of a following here than video, but I might be overthinking it.

In any case, the more cpu intensive scenes will be compiled as video.

Um, That man doesn't look robotic in anyway, hmm, I wonder O.o

Hmm, maybe I need to rework the colouring to have less of a flesh tone.

Wow, this is great news!
I really cant wait to see this!

Loved Tarboy, amazing cartoon. Looking forward to this. I agree with sdfho, the character doesn't look very robotic, but as you say some colour changes could fix that simply enough. Good luck!

in terms of a deadline, is this project slated for a funded sponsorship? or simply an artists' legacy following through?

Either way, your fans and audience are happy to hear such news :)

Ahh, great news!

Wow an update, I though you were ditching this for sure with the lack of info over the last 18 months. Anyways, this is great news, looking forward to it! (and I agree about the flesh tone issue)

It's stagnated for quite a while, and we figured it was time to just settle on a script on go for it.

This is AMAZING news :D

Good look!

Impressed, as always. As a guy who's been in the same position a couple times, I'd personally just go full video with the whole thing. For all the reasons that Zeurel pointed out, but also just for the sake of consistency throughout... its kind of a drag when .swf quality drops down to .flv quality for parts that are supposed to be more intense, but if the whole thing is .flv you dont tend to question the diff as much. JUST MY TWO CENTS BUT EITHER WAY its looking pretty awesome mate

Yeah, that's a good point about the change in quality between scenes, that probably would be distracting as you mentioned. Looks like I'll be going with full video then!

you see

Love the lighting!

If Tarboy 2 is the best name you can come up with I'm not even going to bother to watch it :P

this is great news

just out of curiosity, how long has this been under production for?

Production and pre-production has been happening for the last 3 months or so. Most of this time has been spent making rigs for the characters that are versatile enough to use in a series.

Previous to this we had a whole bunch of pre-production art and scripts which we were working on every so often over the last 18 months, but we decided to scrap everything and start over, as we needed to refine the story down to the bare elements.

I can't wait man!! rending into bitmaps works for me, make them larger then the frame size and set the images to smoothing in the library properties. If you have layered images, use PNG's. It'll enable you to keep your filters and detail, and without ANY lag. That's just my approach though, and I don't know how youve set up the scenes.

On another note, come the fuck over to Victoria with your wife and visit me before you abandon our country!

Do you render out as PNGs for outputting to video, or for bringing them back into Flash to compile an swf?

I'm thinking pretty much I'll go with full video throughout, and save myself the headaches of having to optimize everything for a vector output.

We do need to make it down to Melb before leaving. In the mean time, why the heck aren't you in Brisbane??

I seriously can't wait, it looks and sounds AWESOME

Considering how great the first Tarboy was and combining that with this screenshot, I'm sure we're all up for something amazing.
Honestly can't wait for this to be released!
Good luck.

more like tardboy

This already looks like its going to be good, but like others said, you got to do some recoloring and maybe add a bolt or too, because as nice as it looks, he has a very humanistic look...but other than that i can't wait for this to come out!!!

If it looked anywhere as good as Purged, I'd still say I'd watch it. Do full video format, man.
