Tarboy updates +Popstar on youtube

Posted by JamesLee - February 23rd, 2010

After a few months of Newgrounds/Tarboy inactivity, I thought I'd give a brief rundown on whats new and where I'm at.

Latest news is I've posted Popstar to youtube:

Lately freelance work has consumed most of my time so all of my creative projects have taken a back seat for a few months. Good news is that from March I'll be back into working on my own stuff, and getting started on a larger, top secret project that's Tarboy related. :P

If all goes well I'll have something Tarboy related out by the end of the year. Before then I plan on releasing two other films that have been finished for a while, one which was created before Tarboy, and another I finished last year.

Aside from that, there's still a bunch o' other stuff that I promised which is way past it's due date (tarboy store, shirts, album soundtrack etc)- They'll be out at some point, just don't give your hopes up that they'll be out any time soon :P

Below's a WIP painting Ive been doing - I'm thinking of introducing some more painterly elements into Tarboy, might make a nice contrast against the crisp vector graphics?

Tarboy or not it's all fantastic. Can't wait to see new stuff!

I love your stuff. ^^

Can't wait for the next Tarboy man :)
That movie still makes makes my jaw drop D:

Man that WIP painting is so awesome!!If you plan on using stuff like that in the next Tarboy Movie, then it will put the first one to shame! Is there anywhere I can download that image? It's too bad ass to ignore.

It'll probably be a desktop wallpaper at some stage when it's finished :)

should be the bomb!

Take your time, and do it right! Your talent is worth the wait!

I agree, take your time man! Loving it :)

Dude, I loved Tarboy
Make another your art is Phenomenal.

Just thought you should know that im going to be trying to start an animation festival at the Brisbane Powerhouse over the next few months and thought you might be interested.

Sounds interesting, let me know when it's happening

Looks hot. <3

by the end of the year? aawwww.... I can't wait for so looong.....

I really liked Popstar. However, my feelings towards Tarboy are mixed. On one hand, you have an original character, excellent animation, and a fresh art style. On the other, an overclichéd story with equally cliché antagonists.

Well, cliches aren't necessarily a bad thing - Cliche's are useful when you need to jump into a story very quickly.

nu tarboy yet? D: *sadface*

I am a big tarboy fan and i will say that if you ARE gonna do animating like the WIP picture, it will definetly make Tarboy 2 more Tim Burton-y. NOT that its a bad thing its always cool to experiment, so im definitely excited for Tarboy 2.

P.S. if you cross your eyes at the WIP picture or make it blurry, it will look like a demonic grim reaper with his scythe on his bach

I Never noticed that about the grim reaper face :P

The Paint might be a good idea if you use it sparingly, but that's just me i guess. Anyways, keep up the good work! You make amazing animations.

Exactly what I'm thinking - it would be very easy to overdo it

i just want to say that you are the best to make ng movies i have never seen anything like tarboy and i very see foward to the next "tarboy related" movie you are making

You should see if you can get some kind of movie company to back you with Tar-Boy, I mean with how awesome the first part was and how many ways you could make it longer. You could totally make it into a feature film!

your one of the best animators by far mannn! -tarboy kicks ass, looking forward to the next onee

I loved Tarboy and I can't wait till the sequel. I noticed in the movie though that the grandfather's unique eye started off on the left side then switched to right. Don't know if this was an accident or on purpose but this small error if it is one doesn't stop it from being great :D

With your WIP painting, you really seem to have found the balance between art and style. And believe me, they're two very diffrent things. All I can say is "Wow". And I'm going to be checking your next few submissons, waiting for this to become a wallpaper :) You've got some serious talent man, and you sure as HELL know how to use it :P
